Tara Love Cartagena has been serving individuals, youth and families of underrepresented communities in various social services roles within San Mateo County since 2005. In December 2017, Tara happily joined the Resource Family Approval unit for Family and Children Services in San Francisco County. Her experience and love for the community has helped her navigate county systems in order to empower and advocate for individuals and families who are seeking services. In her spare time, Tara is an Afro-Brazilian dancer/performer and a youth dance instructor for a community group in San Francisco’s Mission District. She has used this passion for dance to empower communities of color, in particular the youth population, to embrace their identity and to channel their emotions and feelings in a healthy way. You can catch her performing every year alongside her family in the San Francisco Carnaval Parade!
